En familj tvingas ta hand om en talande schimpans som älskar trubbel. Juan Gustozzi är en änkeman som bor med sina tre barn och Amanda, som agerar hushållerska, kock och "mamma" till barnen. Familjen är nära att få slut på pengar när de ärver en förmögenhet från Juans farbror som har gått bort. Men pengarna kommer med ett villkor: de måste ta hand om Chueco, en vuxen schimpans. Alla ser fram emot att ha en apa tills de upptäcker att Chueco döljer en stor hemlighet: han kan prata. Hela familjen måste samarbeta för att hålla Chuecos hemlighet gömd medan den fräcka schimpansen ställer till alla möjliga problem.

Things get complicated when Professor Macarato, an old research partner of his uncle, pays him a visit and tries to steal the ape from him.
