AJ takes Evie and Anaya swimming, but Waffle must stay at home with Simon. Refusing to miss out on the fun, Waffle begins an adventure of his own and sets off to find Evie.
An old friend of Gramps, Mr Willow, brings along his two dogs to play with Waffle. Evie feels a bit left out until Waffle reassures her. The two new dogs escape into Mrs Hobbs's garden, so Waffle has to save the day.

It's the hottest day of the year and Waffle is eating ice cream to cool down. Outside in the sweltering heat, Simon turns on the sprinkler to help everyone cool down, but poor Waffle doesn't like the sprinkler and darts through the hole in the fence to Mrs Hobbs's garden, looking for shade. The Brooklyn-Bells try to coax him back, but he refuses to return. Doug decides to make a mini swimming pool by filling the ball pit with cool water. Waffle loves swimming pools. Maybe that will encourage him back?
Waffle is unwell. He's in his pyjamas and under strict orders to stay in bed and rest. But poor Waffle can't get comfy. When he sees Evie and Simon playing in the garden, he feels left out and begins to woof and woof. Simon tells Waffle to rest quietly, but it's too late. The wonder dog's incessant barking has already disturbed Mrs Hobbs next door and, to make matters worse, like Waffle she's not feeling well either. Mrs Hobbs has a bad cold, and she's blaming it on the Brooklyn-Bells. She's convinced getting drenched in their ball-pit pond is the cause. The Brooklyn-Bells do chores for Mrs Hobbs to help her get better, and Jess brings home a surprise from work.
The Brooklyn-Bells are looking after the kitten from Jess's veterinary practice. When Waffle checks on the kitten, it's not in its bed. In fact, the kitten is nowhere to be seen. The Brooklyn-Bells don't see it disappear into the utility cupboard and through the tunnel to Mrs Hobbs's house next door. When Mrs Hobbs meets the kitten, she mistakes it for her beloved cat George. She falls in love with the kitten and doesn't want it to leave.
It's the day of Jess's 'bring a pet' birthday party. Gramps is one of the first to arrive with Muckypups and Thor, two pugs he's dogsitting for the day, and AJ and Anaya have also brought their pets, a gecko called Leo and three fish, Dipper, Dapper and Dopper. Simon and Waffle put on a show for their excited guests, performing the amazing tricks Waffle has mastered. Next to arrive is Mr Meagre and his talking parrot, Pickles. Pickles gives Waffle a run for his money when it comes to entertaining, and the two compete to be the star of the show. When everyone's attention turns to Pickles, Waffle, with the help of Simon and Doug, comes up with a plan to steal back the limelight.
Simon is taking Jess out for a birthday dinner, so Gramps is on babysitting duty. He's brought along Mr Willow's dogs, Trevor and Violet, for the evening. They look just like Waffle, and during a game of hide-and-sing the dogs all hide next door, causing confusion and chaos for poor Mrs Hobbs!
Waffle learns that the summer holidays will soon be over and Evie will be going to school. Determined not to be left alone, Waffle hatches a plan to keep the family at home.
Miss Berrington, Evie's new school teacher, and teaching assistant Mr O'Donnell have come to meet Evie at home before term starts, and Waffle is under strict instructions to be on his best behaviour. But Waffle is teething and won't stop chewing everything in sight.
While Zoe helps Doug with his homework project about Alaska, Simon and Jess take Waffle and Evie to the shops to buy new school shoes. But Waffle's attempts to help end up causing chaos.

When Jess takes Evie for her first school visit, Waffle goes along too - on the condition that he doesn't sing. He tries his best to behave, but it's hard for a Wonder Dog! On their walk to school, Jess and Evie bump into Connie Lester and her daughter Ruby. Ruby reveals that she will also be starting at Sommersby School too, in the year above Evie. Ruby enjoys stroking Waffle and tells Evie that she loves animals. She has a pet dog of her own, Jelly, a yellow labrador. Waffle introduces himself to Jelly, but decides Jelly is a grumpy dog. Meanwhile, there's a For Sale sign in Mrs Hobbs's front garden. Mrs Hobbs and George are moving house and leaving Maple Close forever.
Connie and Ruby move into Maple Close with their dog, Jelly. Mrs Hobbs can't help but express her disapproval. She hates dogs and now there'll be another one living in close proximity. Waffle is not allowed to go on a family camping trip but accidentally goes on a different adventure!
Waffle is sad that Mrs Hobbs and her cat, George, are soon to leave Maple Close. The Brooklyn-Bells call on Mrs Hobbs to persuade her not to move house, only to find that her cat, George, has fleas. They offer to help and discover a secret about Mrs Hobbs.
It's Waffle's birthday and Mr Willow throws a huge party for him. As the Brooklyn-Bells prepare a surprise for Waffle, Connie and Ruby's dog, Jelly, leads the Wonder Dog astray.
Simon and Waffle are home alone. Simon recalls the first time he met Waffle as a pup, and the pair share memories of the Wonder Dog becoming part of the Brooklyn-Bell family.
It’s the eve of Waffle’s first Christmas with the Brooklyn-Bells. Mrs Hobbs is invited, and Gramps has knitted a Christmas jumper. Waffle learns about Santa and really wants to meet him.
The Brooklyn-Bells are on holiday with Gramps, so Waffle is staying at Angela’s dog kennels for a couple of nights. During a face-to-face call with Waffle, the Brooklyn-Bells check their wonder dog is settling in and ensure he has his favourite snuggly toy with him, PegStar. Angela tries to settle Waffle but he whines, he’s missing his Brooklyn-Bell family and looks at their photo on the wall of his kennel. Angela resorts to calling the Brooklyn-Bells and explains that when dogs are very disruptive, she expects their owners, or someone they know, to pick them up. Jess has an idea – there’s someone who might be able to pick Waffle up in the morning - Mrs Hobbs!
Waffle is at Mrs Hobbs’ house until the Brooklyn-Bells return from holiday. He acts like a cat to please her and helpfully washes up his bowl, but accidentally leaves the taps on.
It's early in the morning after the Brooklyn-Bells have returned from holiday and there's someone banging on their front door. It's Mrs Hobbs and she's furious. Waffle left Mrs Hobbs' kitchen taps running and now her home is flooded and there's water pouring out of her front door! But Jess and Simon will be Mrs Hobbs' "knights in shining armour" - Sir Jess and Sir Simon - Brooklyn-Bells to the rescue!
It's the morning of Evie's first day at school and the Brooklyn-Bells are on schedule. But Waffle isn't happy as he is expecting his usual morning walkies. Doug tells Waffle that Gramps will be walking him today; he'll be coming to the house later. Waffle is insistent, he wants to walk to school with the rest of the family…now! Evie thinks it's a great idea. She's nervous about starting Reception and walking to school with Waffle will make her feel happy.
Mrs Hobbs supervises Waffle at the Brooklyn-Bell house. Waffle wants to join Evie at school and tries to escape. Later, the family look at photos and Evie asks about her birth dad.
Waffle isn’t allowed at school, so he’s being looked after by Connie, the Brooklyn-Bell’s neighbour, at her house. Connie has dressed as a dog and made a huge, doggy maze game from cushions and suitcases for her dog, Jelly, to race through with Waffle. Waffle asks for one more race through the maze at home but Jess explains that the time for noisy play is over and offers him a quiet cuddle instead. After dinner, Evie tells Jess she’s been given her first reading book at school and gets the book out of her school bag to show her Mum. Waffle sits next to Evie and watches her read. When he starts to say words from the book out loud, Evie wonders if he’s reading, but Jess and Simon refuse to believe it.
Evie and Waffle arrive home from school with Gramps for a playdate with Ruby and her dog, Jelly. Just as they’re all about to go inside the house, a delivery van arrives with shopping for Mrs Hobbs, next door.
Evie finishes her reading book before school, so she can hand it in and bring a new book home later. Home alone, Waffle makes up a chant and dances around the house to the music. He spots Evie’s reading book! She’s accidentally left it behind and it needs to be handed in today. Waffle doesn’t know what to do. He could take the book to Evie, but he’s banned from school...
Waffle is banned from going anywhere near Sommersby School, so Gramps is at the Brooklyn-Bells’ house to cheer him up. Mrs Hobbs shouts over the garden fence from next door. She wants the barking and the “din” coming from the Brooklyn-Bells’ garden to stop. Mrs Hobbs accuses Gramps of nosing into her garden to see how a good dog like Jelly behaves but meanwhile, Jelly is trying to squeeze her way through a hole in the fence. Mrs Hobbs calls Waffle a “rascal” but Gramps informs her that Waffle is far too busy to be a rascal today – because he’s learning to read. Mrs Hobbs concedes that Waffle is an unusual dog but he’s not clever enough to read! Later, the Brooklyn-Bells settle on the sofa for a bedtime story read by Gramps, with help from Waffle. Waffle makes a mistake with his reading. He can’t read the word “hero” yet, but Waffle the Wonder Dog will always be the Brooklyn-Bells’ hero!
Waffle won’t move from his new doggy doormat because he loves it very much. Jess opens the door to reveal Gram and Grand have come to visit and Grand has made coconut cake for everyone plus a special cake for Waffle but Waffle won’t move from his doggy door mat to greet him. Gram and Grand discover that Waffle can talk and Evie tells them Waffle’s learning to read, too. Gram gives Waffle a congratulatory snuggle and Waffle loves it!
Evie pretends to be Waffle’s dog friend. She even wears a headband with doggy ears. Waffle loves it when they play together like this but Simon calls Evie for school - it is time to leave. Evie says her goodbyes together with Simon and Doug and she promises she will play with Waffle again later, when she returns home. Waffle is disappointed that his playmate has left but Jess cheers him up - she suggests they play doggy chase before she goes to work. Jess puts on doggy ears and chases Waffle on all fours into the bedroom where Jess’s mobile phone rings. It is Angela from the kennels, calling with news of a sad dog she wants Jess to examine. Jess assures Angela she will come right away and invites Waffle to join her. Waffle is very excited and when he arrives at the kennels with Jess, he still wants to play chase.
Waffle, Jess, Gramps and Angela help Pepper find a new owner by making a leaflet. Waffle tries to help Mrs Hobbs, too, but causes chaos. Waffle hopes Mrs Hobbs will adopt Pepper.
Doug wants to be in the school show, so he asks Waffle to help him with his act. He reveals his new music kit made from household items. Waffle and Doug make music together using all of the different homemade instruments but Mrs Hobbs bangs on the wall from next door. She asks the Brooklyn-Bells to keep the noise down! Doug notices that Mrs Hobbs’ banging is in time with their musical beat - she’s really good. Doug has an idea and invites Mrs Hobbs to come round and join in properly.
Waffle, Simon, Doug, Evie and Ruby do a sponsored silence to raise money for the school. It’s not much fun, so Mrs Hobbs suggests they do a jigsaw. Waffle finds the missing piece.
The Brooklyn-Bells take Waffle to school to ask if he can visit class. When headteacher Mr Nolan says no, Waffle goes missing - he’s determined to prove he’s ready for school!
It’s Bring-a-Toy-to-School Day, so Evie takes the trolley she’s just been given for her fifth birthday. Waffle hides in it and ends up in Evie’s class, where he must keep very still so he isn't seen.
Waffle and Doug give Evie a birthday gift, and the Brooklyn-Bells discover Mrs Hobbs's new rollerskating hobby. Evie makes a wish at her party to receive a card from her birth dad.
Mrs Hobbs holds interviews for a cat sitter for George. Waffle wants the job, so the Brooklyn-Bells hatch a plan to help. Miss Berrington arrives with good news from school.
Waffle tries to impress on his first day as a listening dog at school. Mrs Hobbs arrives to collect Waffle, but her cat, George, goes missing.
Zoe’s boyfriend, Callum, takes Evie, Doug, Simon and Waffle to an indoor snow arena. Poor Waffle discovers he’s not allowed to sledge, while Mrs Hobbs surprises everyone.
On Waffle’s first day as a trial school pupil, he struggles to hold a pen. Waffle decides to hide Miss Berrington’s pen pot. If he can’t write, why should anyone else?
Evie has been given her first ever homework, while Waffle has been awarded Benji, the class toy, for good behaviour. Zoe and Callum have exciting news, and Evie emails her birth dad, Nate.
It’s the end of Waffle’s trial week at school, and he’s forgotten to do his homework! Mr Nolan decides if Waffle can continue as a pupil, and Jess gets a text from Evie’s birth dad.
Waffle feels left out of the Brooklyn-Bells’ fun, so he sets off to find his doggy family. Later, Waffle introduces Pepper to Mrs Hobbs, hoping she’ll adopt his cute doggy friend.
Waffle’s paw is hurt in class, so vet Jess trains Mr Nolan in doggy first aid. Doug invents a device with buttons that Waffle can press for entertainment if he gets bored resting.
Evie, Doug, Ruby and Ali rehearse for the school show at the Brooklyn-Bells’ house. Next door, a mystery box is delivered to Mrs Hobbs, and Waffle is desperate to know what’s inside it.
The Poodles’ Class rehearse their song for the school show, and Waffle is looking forward to singing his line. When rehearsal time runs out, Evie knows how to help Waffle practice.
It’s the school show, and Doug, Ali and Mrs Hobbs are performing. Evie gets locked in the toilet, but Waffle saves the day in time to sing his line in the finale and surprise everyone!
Doug helps Waffle make new neighbour Pepper a dog bed. They fondly remember when Mrs Hobbs adopted Pepper and when they made their first box-bed for her cat, George.
